The Yard Brisbane’s design team can transform your vessel using the latest technological advancements in the field of shipbuilding, refit, and repair.
Now, The Yard Brisbane is one of few shipyards in the world to offer an entire end-to-end solution for ship lifting, 3D scanning, 3D modelling and CNC Fabrication through to installation. All this under one state-of-the-art roof.
Our 3D scanning and CAD modelling experts have 25 years of experience within the maritime, survey, civil and structural components industries.
The Yard Brisbane offers a complete 3D scanning service to accurately measure your vessel, from smaller craft up to 600T superyachts. Using state-of-the-art scanning technology, our team captures the contours of your vessel by projecting a grid of millions of laser points onto its surface, creating a dense ‘PointCloud’ of accurate measurements. The interior and exterior of your vessel can be scanned in full colour creating an accurate historical snapshot or ‘as-built’ record for repair, refit, or further modification. Scans can be performed at your vessel’s current location or on-site at The Yard Brisbane.
Additionally, this technology can be applied to commercial infrastructure projects including bridges, ferry terminals.
The 3D scanning services are complemented by in-house 3D modelling and manufacture.

Our Computer Aided Manufacturing services provide high accuracy (sub-mm) 3D scanning of smaller objects such as engine components, pipe fittings and hatch sealing faces. The scans can be applied for use in six-axis machining and 3D printing.
Through our technology, accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings can be created from the Laser Pointcloud that can exported to virtually any format.
This 3D drawing capability is used to drive our Computer Numerical Control (CNC) cutting machines. Our CNC machines can accurately cut sheets of marine ply, HDPE plastic, aluminium, and other materials to size, ensuring that our in-house fabrication is fast and accurate.
“The equipment used is top-of-the-line for the size of objects (up to 80m). We know how our equipment will perform in different environments and with different materials. We have experience in reverse-engineering scan data, along with in-house CNC machining. We can offer a rare all-in-one service when it comes to Computer Aided Manufacturing.”

Our award-winning interior designer can further realise your design vision for your vessel. Using both exterior and interior 3D scans, highly accurate fully furnished interior design concepts can be created. Once the scans are produced at your vessel’s location, this work can be conducted remotely if required.
